Feeling worthy
Hi there!
I hope your week is going well 😊
“Am I worth it?” I’m going to take a guess and say that you have probably asked yourself this question at some point in your life. Whether it be for a job, pay rise, a fee you are charging, the competition you are part of or even a relationship you are in.
I know I have.
In fact, a post on LinkedIn where I talked about my self-doubt around how much I charge as a woman empowerment coach got so much attention and comments from people, both on and offline, that I thought it is worth diving deeper into here with you.
A staggering 80 per cent of women don’t believe they are “enough”! It’s not much better for men either – 73% say they feel inadequate.
In her book “Worthy”, Jamie Kern Lima dives into all the reasons for this. It’s a fascinating and insightful read and I would highly recommend it! But today I wanted to just take a snippet of it and share it with you in the hope that it may be of some value.
The Four Keys to Fulfilment
It’s no surprise that having self-worth is a basic requirement to feeling fulfilled but it’s not enough. Jamie says that you also need self-confidence, growth and contribution and I think I agree with her.
Self Confidence: How strongly you believe in your abilities to meet life’s challenges, your willingness to try and go for it and to succeed.
Growth: Pursuits, both internal and external, that build your skills, competencies, traits and passions.
Contribution: Giving your time, talents, energy, to others, a cause or something bigger and beyond yourself.
Self-Worth: The internal deep-rooted belief that you are enough and are innately worthy of love and belonging, just as you are.
In the book she has an equation to work out where you are at with all of these but I thought I would invite you to reflect on each of them and score yourself out of 10.
I just did it and it’s quite interesting. Here are mine:
Self Confidence: 7/8
Growth: 8
Contribution: 5
Self-worth: 6/7
Isn’t it interesting that you can have high self-confidence but still feel low self-worth at times??
For confidence and worth, the score varies depending on the context or situation, as I am sure it does for you too. Such an interesting conversation that I would love to have with you! Please feel free to share your scores with me by replying to this email.
In the next newsletter, I will share with you some tips and tools that will help us raise each of these scores.
If you can’t wait till then, I will be running an amazing FREE workshop called#I AM REMARKABLE on Friday June 12th 12:30-2:00pm HKT over zoom where we will explore the importance of self-promotion in your personal and professional life. Details can be found here.
There are only a few spaces left so if you are interested, put your name down.
I’m also working on building an online community for like-minded women, such as yourself, where we will be able to interact in a safe space, learn from each other, attend monthly live group coaching calls and have access to all of my resources that will empower you to play bigger and live a more fulfilled life.
